I'm in the states and I agree with you about viewers choices here. Most people want a lot of explosions and faux sex. However, I've been watching the hell out of BBC series beyond Sherlock. Right now I'm on Season 2 of Line of Duty. I just watched a lot of Cracker and anything with Bill Nighy in it, I'm game for. Since I started watching BBC series I can't stand anything from here, other than The Wire and perhaps a very few others. At least Hulu Plus and Amazon Prime with Acorn offers a lot of great stuff from BBC and ITV. In fact, I'm probably going to dump my cable and just stream from now on.
If you have any suggestions for great TV I would be most appreciative.

I'm in the states and I kinda got turned on to British crime drama via Netflix with The Fall, Broadchurch, Happy Valley,Luther, etc. And I'm so glad I did. I haven't watched this yet but I think I will. If you have any other suggestions that would be great and maybe I can turn you on to some American shows.
