Horror movie endings

This post is not specifically about this movie, but I was just wondering weather or not it was just me that hates horror movie endings? This movie was not the worse ending I have seen, but I find the open ended, cliffhanger, I don't know endings in horror movies painful. Why can't a movie just end? Why does there have to be one last seen where the creature or whatever is back.... Probably better putting this on a different forum as this ending was frustrating but OK.

Open endings leave room for sequels, which means the studio can continue to milk a cash cow for as long as audiences are willing to pay to see the same story rehashed ad nauseum. The original Friday the 13th spawned a dozen increasingly poor sequels, none of which lost money despite being decidedly inferior to the first installment - which was hardly a masterpiece to begin with.

It really depends on how much sense it makes for the story and how it is handled.

Jessabelle didn't have an open ending- the bad guy won, that's all.
