So was Van Helsing supposed to be immortal?

I haven't viewed the whole series as yet, but was wondering if Van Helsing was supposed to be an immortal. Dracula/Greyson mentions that he spent a century entombed before being resurrected and apparently his wife was murdered around the same time? as Van Helsings? For which they seek revenge against the order of the dragon apparently. Just curious.

Don't think so. Dracula's wife was killed and then Dracula was turned into a vampire by the Order of the Dragon centuries before the opening scenes in the show. Why the Order of the Dragon thought Dracula deserved such a punishment was never made clear. The people who were members of the Order of the Dragon when Dracula was transformed and his wife was burnt at the stake are presumably all long dead, and the current members are probably their descendants. Van Helsing's wife was killed years before Dracula arrives in London, but not centuries earlier. Presumably, this is why Dracula finds it easier to settle for destroying the Order financially: the people who actually killed his beloved are long since dead.
