Maybe they are not glasses, but an actual part of their body?

I always saw their goggles as protective equipment that industrious minions would need, what with making bombs and working with lava guns, fart guns, stealing the moon and the like. Their whole reason to exist is to serve an evil master, so they must be dressed appropriately in overalls and goggles. 

Wouldn't nose plugs make more sense with the fart gun.

They can't be a part of their body because they change styles based on their outfits :)
