Like the Penguins of Madagascar Movie, I foresee disappointment

The concept sounds funny, but do we really want to listen to these things jabber and cackle for 2 hours?

I thought the Penguins of Madagascar movie was going to be better than the other Madagascar movies, and it ended up being about the same, only I stopped caring about the Penguins early in the movie. They wore out their welcome very quickly.

Despicable Me might have been better than the Madagascar movies, but I'm not sure the whole "evil children" gimmick will last very long by itself. Does anyone actually want to sit through 2 hours of that high-pitched gibberish?

I agree with this. It will definitely make more money than Penguins, but I still see a big drop from DM2.

It is a cartoon, mainly for kids. Sure adults are welcome to watch but we can't really expect much from it. As long as the kids enjoy the movie, they serve their purpose.

Illumination has a better track record than DreamWorks when it comes to stuff like this. And yes, there is definitely an audience for more minions.

However, I must admit, the trailers definitely do make this movie seem like it's heading in a money-oriented, less concerned about quality direction. But it would be very unfair to judge the movie based in its trailers, so I'll make my official opinion once I see it (or if it's a complete critical flop then I might accept that it's just a bad movie and not fork over $12).

aren't MINIONS just a rip off of "RABBIDS"?

if you haven't played a game with them in it like me, watch 'rabbids invasion' tv show

they are the EXACT creations, don't believe me analyse them

*weird looking creatures
*don't speak a real language and speak some mumble gibberish
*do weird stuff and laugh at each other
*get into weird mischief and treat each other like crap
*silly mannerisms

the creators owe 'rabbids' alot of money

by that definition is your mom also a rip-off of "rabbids". xD

but seriously, you just described 95% of cartoons. looney tunes, sponge bob, your mom... etc.

I can't believe I'm going to admit to liking a post by therefdotcom, but it also got a chuckle from me.

Minions are not original. Neither was Rabbids. They both were working with a common formula.

Not wishing to rain on the haters parade or anything but the Guardian in the UK said...

Minions has just scored the biggest debut weekend in the UK for an animated feature. Most people would struggle to pick Stuart, Kevin and Bob out of a lineup, yet the trio has bested Toy Story, Shrek and all the other big guns from Disney, Pixar and DreamWorks.

And the Hollywood Reporter says...

Universal scores a one-two punch at the top as 'Jurassic World' is finally knocked from its perch.

The U.K. box office has gone from gigantic genetically modified dinosaur hybrids straight to diminutive yellow super villain servants.

Minions has finally knocked Jurassic World from its record-breaking perch at the top of the U.K. box office, in doing so beating the likes of Toy Story and Frozen to bring in the biggest animated feature three-day opening of all time in Britain.

So I think it's fair to say the Minions will do pretty well.

PENGUINS was great! Liked the third MADAGASCAR the best of the other MADAGASCAR movies, but I own PENGUINS because it's hilarious and heartwarming.

If MINIONS fleshes out its characters a little like PENGUINS, it could be great, but reports are that it's not. However, I don't trust reports or other critics. If I like a movie, it usually doesn't matter to me what anyone else says about it. I get more upset when people overrate something stupid, but slam something(s) that is really good.
