serious question, for the Brits only.

I know the British take their monarchy very seriously, at least most seem to, and also the Crown Jewels. Even though this is just a silly animated fluff of a cartoon, do some Brits get upset with the mocking of the royalty and traditions, and the stealing of the Crown? Or do all of you just take it as a funny joke?

Just curious. I used to work with a bunch of Brits and they all took British traditions very seriously.

No to all of the above.

I don't take the monarchy seriously at all. In fact, most people don't. I think it's a generational thing in some ways. Older generations of British people seem to take pride in the monarchy as a symbol of the UK's identity, but even then I'd say it's less British and more English. Not many Scottish people, for example, could give two hoots about the Queen.

I'm feel very confident in stating that absolutely no-one would be offended at the stealing of the crown or mocking of the royalty. To state a generalisation (albeit a quite accurate one) We're a very self-deprecating nation and mock ourselves and our own royalty, ticks and flaws probably more than anyone else.

I enjoyed the film more than I thought I would too!

I'm a Brit and I (and a lot of others) think the monarchy should be abolished. If one of the Queen's crowns (she has several) was stolen I'd laugh my cock off.

I'm an American but I was schooled in Scotland and they take the crown and monarchy so lightly there that I had a friend in Glasgow who'd just become a citizen and was allowed to not pledge her allegiance to the Queen when she became a citizen. When Scarlet Overkill says "ruler of England" it's meant to be a sort of joke of her ignorance on the matter.

We Brits don't seem to care overly much for the monarchy except as a kind of patriotic symbol and a means of separation of the British and the Americans in particular. But you mention abolishing the Queen and the royals and 8 out of 10 Brits would care to knock your block off if we weren't so polite. Lol. Although I don't think too many of us would take offence at Her Magesty being depicted as a hard arsed arm wrestling Queen of awesomeness. God Save The Queen

If God doesn't exist, does that mean maybe the queen shouldn't either?
