I liked the original and I don't mind that they remake movies so that a new generation can enjoy the same stories. Some of it was ok, but I found the ending stupid. I think they should have been stranded longer, she should have got pregnant, didn't understand her not talking to him when they got back and ending with all of a sudden talking and at the prom in the rain. Would have rather them just stuck to the exact original story.
shareIt was supposed to be a modern retelling of the original (which was not the 1980 Brooke Shields version by the way, the original was a 1923 silent movie, then there was a 1949 remake, THEN the Brooke Shields version). In the older movies the setting was the late 1800's to early 1900's there wasn't the modern advances to be able to search for someone like there is today, so I think it was a realistic retelling, I just don't know why they did some things like have her throwing up if they weren't going to have her be pregnant..
