could be on a deserted island for over two months without his hair growing (and actually staying the same style-wise), without growing a moustahce or beard, and without growing chest hair. RIGHT. Because that's so very realistic.

I don't think it is so unrealistic.
I think we are supposed to understand certain things happened on the island that we didn't see. How do we know for sure he didn't shave or even give his hair a little snip every now and then? Just because we didn't see it doesn't mean he didn't.
Except they added in a scene where Emma pokes fun at Dean for not having a bear and he tells her "it will get heavier" and then laughs at himself. So, this should have proven to you that he isn't shaving while on the island. This isn't a "it is understood even though we aren't seeing it" type of situation.
I am a junior in high school and if I were on a deserted island for over two months, you better believe my hair would be getting long (and crazy messy), and I would look at least ten years older in my face because I couldn't shave.
I totally agree with the hair on his head. That not growing is just illogical. Facial hair is a different matter. Not every male can grow facial hair easily. I have some friends (we are in graduate/medical school) who are 24-25 who don't have heavy facial hair. Granted they tend to get patchy "beards" (I feel really generous calling it a beard).
But yeah, overall, they really should have paid more attention to the detail. They could have easily explained the hairlessness away. Emma pretty much had every toiletry she owned on the island with them, why not some disposable razors? But instead they just don't address it.
Yeah, and she probably brought scissors, tweezers and alot of makeup along on that 2 hour boat ride. And he brought razors, or maybe he shaved with sharpened sea shells. And she avoided pregnancy by sticking clams up her cooch. Very realistic movie..

Well I am 21 and I don't have chest hair, back hair, or much facial hair. That being said I am a quarter to half Native American and they are known to be quite hairless.

Well, the same could be said for the original Blue Lagoon. I don't remember him having hair other than the permed stuff on his head. It waS probably low-budget and couldn't shoot stuff in continuity.
