Everyone that is complaining, have you ever seen the orginial? Brooke Shields and Christopher Atkins never once grew hair in the original. They spent YEARS on the island from Childhood to young adult hood and Christopher never grew a beard not once. And the only thing Brooke Shield grew in the orginal was boobs. Don't knock the little details of this movie unless you have seen the orginal. You don't have the right.

NIKE has "Just Do It" Edward has "Just Google It."
LOL. That's a terrible excuse. So, because the original didn't do it, we are supposed to accept it now? This makes the new film even worse because the "little" details (they aren't so little in fact) should have been corrected here.
It might be laughable back in the day when the original came out to realize that Brooke Shields only grew breasts yet the male lead never grew a beard but we are in 2012- plot continuity is important to people.
These aren't little issues as much as they are glaring inconsistencies that make the audience shake their heads.
Umm, I've seen both the original movies (BL, and Return) so not everyone here is as ignorant as you might think.
This movie is just a tad unrealistic, in both them being on the island for two months without soap and razors and being miraculously hairless and their clothes not looking worn-down or extremely dirty, as well as Emma not getting pregnant from all the inexperienced-teenage-sex they were having.
I've got a bone to pick with all of the movies, but for the most part, 1 and 2 were decent. This one just seemed rushed-through and a bit ill-conceived. But, then I suppose that's why it was a made-for-TV movie.
"...and now you want me to eat bunnies and I'm kinda freaking out, okay?!"
I've seen the original too, and truthfully, while it's a cult classic, it too is a pretty bad movie. Sure we all watch it when it's on, but it also has plenty of bad acting and cheesy lines. That doesn't mean I don't like it, but some parts are just sooo bad. And the one with Milla Jovovich was even worse.
The original was all about seeing the two stars naked. That was the only reason for it's success in that pre-internet time. If this film had done the same, no one would care how dumb it is.
I don't mind overlooking a lot of details and the hair is one of them, but I also thought they could have made a little bit of effort to make the clothing look a bit worn by the end. They didn't need to be in loin clothes or anything, but at least make their clothes appear a bit worn and grungy after three months.
At one point in the movie she teases him about not growing a beard, and he says it'll grow later. I don't find that unrealistic, I never had to shave in high school, I didn't star growing a beard till my freshman year in college. You could actually make the same argument for the original, they were supposed to be in their mid teens, never reaching even their late teen years.
If I remember correctly,in the 1980 version, there was a scene where they showed Richard cutting his hair with some kind of knife-would explain the reason his hair never got longer the time they were there. Maybe he also was able to fashion some homemade shaving item from things found on the island?? Possibly....we'll never know for sure-but it makes fodder for good discussion!! :-)
dont be ridiculous in telling anyone they dont have the right to complain about a movie. people can knock every little detail they please. i cant help but laugh at you, your post and the movie.
