Can't believe the positive reaction!

Just saw this.

It's okay... like 5-6/10 C+ B-. I just can't believe it has so many good reviews. Makes me loose faith in the this business.

You get exactly what you expected. Kevin Hart has some cheap jokes that are admittedly funny at times but other than that it really doesn't do anything new or even interesting enough to hold your attention.

The villain is boring and pretty much a useless character all together.

Jack Black acting like a pretty high school girl is kinda funny but nothing ground breaking.

The action is rehashed and unimpressive at best.

The love story again rehashed and not really anything to get invested in.

The drama they try to build with the relationships is garbage.. stuff made for 12 year olds.

Prefer the original over this any day.. at-least it had some scary moments, funny lines, and Alan's dad as the villain was fantastic.

Admittedly if I were drunk or high and with my buddies watching this... yeah it would be a good time but I doubt that's a standard for a good movie. I don't know maybe just too old for these kind of movies.

That's exactly who these kinds of movies are made for...

Only milenials, who are now in their mid-late 20s, expect that these kids movies should cater to their interests...

I get the sense you would have appreciated it better if it had some more originality to offer. But nonetheless, your reaction sounds more positive than those who won’t give it a fair chance and will basically find it completely awful. Fair points.

I, for one, LOVE that it’s garnering a positive response from both critics and audiences alike. It’s like a big F you to everyone who wanted it to crash and burn. Shoot, I was expecting a critical disaster as well, so to see how much it is being raved about (compared to the Williams classic) is a pleasant surprise. And let’s be honest, for how much the 90’s movie is adored by people, it was never a critical darling. I love it and very few will argue that the new one is not inferior, but facts remain.

Anywho, while this new one is seen as a worthless and mindless version movie by certain people, the consensus seems to be that it did something right. If the holier-than-thou baby boomers/generation x’ers are having less fun with it than the big bad “ignorant” millennials, then so be it. Those that repeatedly express their outrage with modern Hollywood and the type of movies that currently dominate the scene... I guess the only thing I can say is, um, enjoy your hate-watching? Haha

Great review. I completely agree with you that is a movie aimed for 12 year olds :) :)

It seemed like a gimmick and fake feeling.

Yes. It's a movie aimed for kids or family watching at the cinema. It was released right before winter holidays hoping to get a large amount of views from families that have the holidays. At the end, the movie is forgettable and not worth reviewing that much.

Its ok. Didn't find the characters really that likeable and some of the jokes fell flat. I'll give a 6.3 compared to Jumanji 1995 7.5.
