Petition to stop Jumanji remake

The fact that they are even contemplating remaking this movie is an extreme show of disrespect to the memory of Robin Williams. Hollywood has become a swamp of sellout joke artists who have no originality by taking the amazing movies of our childhood and ruining them for the future generations with substandard scripts, bad directing, and horrible casting decisions. If you are a fan of the original or a Robin Williams fan in general stand up with me and boycott the making of this movie. Let us rise together to put a stop to the nonsense that is remaking good 90's movies.

It's all about money money money now. So only bad quality movies are made. Nobody takes any risks anymore. Hollywood isn't what it once was anymore , what a pity. You're so right on this man!

A"greed". This is such a ripoff and does not seem to mention any actual playing of the game and for any of you people who say that they can't make it the same they can and I think if they absolutely had to make this sad attempt at the amazing original movie, RIP Robin Williams, they need to make it like the first one. If they make this now, the next generation will never see the original and that kind of legend will be lost. And I'm sorry if I'm going all fantasy on you but seriously I really hope that Jumanji along with other movies like the princess bride will be watched over and over for ages. Imagine if nobody watched Star Wars any more because someone made "Star wars", a completely separate version of movies, I know that could be a bit far fetched but honestly it has already happened.
I hope this movie is never made

Who cares if they are making a remake. I love Jumanji and it does not bother me. They have remade Shakespeare countless times no one bats an eye. Some remakes are better. Example, The Wizard of Oz starring Judy Garland. Yes, that was a remake. My favorite film is The Princess Bride if they were to announce a remake tomorrow I would not care. I will watch the trailer and if it looks good I would watch, if not I will skip it. They can remake films a million times but they can never take away my memories or the original.

You sir, obviously have no sense of taste when it comes to films. If they were to remake the Princess Bride I would boycott that as well. I do not have issues with movies being remade when they are done properly and do not become pop culture garbage.

So. No one can ever remake a movie YOU personally like; do i have that correct?

An interesting rule to have to explain and enforce.

Yet, you say you have no issues with movies being remade when they are done properly. Until the remake has been completed, how will you know the difference!?

Your comments are ridiculous. I'm also fond of tradition, but remaking a movie is an old standby and will always happen when Hollywood is out of new ideas. Sometimes these remakes are actually pretty great; sometimes they're terrible. I usually wait until they've been released to decide whether or not to boycott them, however.

The Wizard of Oz was not a remake. It was an adaptation of the 1900 novel. Psycho (1960) was an adaptation of the 1959 novel by Robert Block. Psycho (1998) was a remake of that film. The reason why that's a remake and not an adaptation of the Novel is because the director of the 1998 version was copying Hitchcock rather than the Novel it was based on.

Jumanji (1995) isn't original. It's based off of a novel by Chris Van Allsburg in 1981.

That's like saying every Pride and Prejudice film is a remake off the one prior to it. No, they're adaptations of the novel.

If any future movies that are remakes or new adaptations come, as long as the are done well, and well received it won't matter.

It's all the ones that are done poorly that people get annoyed with.

The same would be true of jumanji though it is based off a children's picture book. Just because a new movie is coming out doesn't mean it is a remake of the original...

Considering the fact no child actors are confirmed for the film and what they've said about it, it won't be anything like the book.

do you idiots think that Robin Williams would be upset if the movie was remade? Ever heard the phrase "imitation is the highest form of flattery"? While I have every bit of respect for the man, it really isnt his call to make anyway; The movie wasnt written by Robin williams and remake/reboot isnt an affront to him in any format. You need to all stop whining over nonsense and get a life.

I didn't have a problem with a remake until they cast the Rock and Kevin Hart. Sony is really bad at casting movies.

It's a kids movie, folks. My son is a "kid," and he loves the idea of seeing the re-make with Duane Johnson. The original seems dated when watched today; why not bring it into the 21st century with 21st century technology and current stars?

while, as you can see i also dont have a problem with a remake/reboot, i do have to concur the point about the bad casting... lets guess... the rock taking williams' role?! not chance in him doing THAT with any credibility... i cant see him as the little geek turned swashbuckler.. and then hart would prolly end up being the sneaker creator/cop... (yes i am racial profiling, deal with it) he might pull it off his comedic style is similar to the original actor.

This is how I felt after watching the various horrible remakes of the Three Musketeers as well as the sequels to Kickass, Anchorman, and Zoolander. In the end it only taints the original if they bring back a bunch of the original cast and have them perform in a crap film.

How about a petition to do a remake of the Hobbit?

I disagree with you totally cweier! I do not feel remaking Jumanji will be disrespectful of anyone! Robin Williams was in many movies.....I believe that you have a choice to watch or not to watch it if it comes out....... Hollywood has made some good remakes while others have been B standard but I for one would like to see what happened when the game was found again since it was not destroyed......... an sequel not necessarily a remake.

I am a fan of the original AND of Robin Williams, and not only do I think a remake with "The Rock" could be great, I think Robin Williams would be in favor of it.

There's no disrespect in re-making a movie, unless it's done badly.
