FACT: Only people with absolutely no intelligence think it was staged.

All you have to do to prove me wrong is to name just one person with any intelligence who think it was staged.

Well, Aaron looks like he's lying on his initial interview. Although I'm no expert, I'm pretty sure that all behavioural experts would agree with me on this. And also listening to her proof of life message and seeing her door-cam footage when she comes home , you have to admit looks and sounds very unlikely to be coming from a person who's been kidnapped.
But even so, there is no excuse that the police switched Aaron's phone to Airplane Mode even though he told them he was expecting kidnappers to call. Which they did, twice and both calls were traceable.

I agree with all of that, but the evidence indicates otherwise. Do you agree or not?

reply

What evidence? I don't know the real story, but only by watching movie ,I can't recall the single evidence.

reply

The circumstantial evidence is conclusive. I skimmed a few articles and don't see any DNA evidence.

You mentioned the blonde hair in another post. I don't see where it was connected to Huskins. That makes me think unknown victims exist.

reply

Sorry, I don't think there was any circumstantial evidence either.
The blonde hair was found in suspect's car, it was caught in the mask which this unlikely character didn't even destroy after he released her. The hair was found to be victim's.

reply

"The hair was found to be victim's" Huskins?

reply

No. The hair was the girl's, the kidnapped blonde. She was the victim, not Huskins.

reply

Thanks

reply

"he circumstantial evidence is conclusive." I think I meant that Huskins was kidnapped.

reply

Aaron would only look like he's lying to people with no critical thinking skills.

reply

Yes, it totally makes sense to accuse him, because it is true for most cases (look e.g. on other docu series on Netflix). But without any proof, I don't see why they basically directly moved to "tell us where you buried her". If he killed her, they will anyway get him, so no need to pressure him and if not, they just lose (in this case 2.5m USD). There was no evidence he would run (why would he come up with the kidnapping in that case anyway), so it was just stupid investigation.

reply

I'm glad he got that lawyer.

reply

I went into the series thinking that, but the evidence is clear. The case has many strange elements which at first glance makes it appeared staged, but that is because the kidnapper was a real nut.

reply

My finely tuned critical thinking skills kept me from thinking it was staged.

reply

Ok, now I'm curious. What exactly kept you from thinking it was staged.
(And please don't say "It was when the woman police officer found a blond hair") :)

reply

I knew it wasn't staged since the story first broke because the cops offered no logical explanation for why they thought it was staged.

reply

You have no clue about these sorts of things and it would be polite to add SPOILER and not use subject lines that give away the entire premise of the documentary to those that have not seen it yet.

In return to you, this documentary was so well done and assembled that after watching the first episode, the exact opposite of what your subject line could be reasonably stated.

I had no prior knowledge of this incident but after that first episode, the first thought I had was "staged" - and that was just because the producers of this WANT the initial viewing epside to portray that exact thought to amplify the later rage and emotions of viewers when the truth starts to emerge.

reply

The stupid cops who thought it was staged are just as stupid as the cops who thought Marie Adler made up her rape in "Unbelievable".

reply

I challenge anyone to give me a good reason why all the cops who thought it was staged should not be fired.

reply

For one thing, you have the benefit of hindsight - now, I'm not defending these people, but the unusual nature of this incident clearly indicates the difficulty in investigating what are known as "unequivocal crimes" and not even considering that aspect, especially very early on, shows exactly your lack of knowledge about such things.

One thing that I don't think they touched on was testing the boyfriend for substances early on to verify he had been drugged. That would have been helpful to start piecing together that the boyfriend was telling the truth, which could have explained the low-key 911 call he made.

Not only that, I believe if you played this documentary to quite a few investigators and only showed the first episode, (the first episode was so well crafted to indicate a staged crime for the purpose of building tension in the documentary), that the majority of them would lean toward a staging just because of the unusual nature of the initial start of this crime.

I think this documentary also revealed the inexperience of a possibly boutique type police agency more apt at investigating lesser crimes and not the more serious and complex investigations.

reply

I was sure it was not staged the moment the story broke, so sure that I would have bet a million dollars even though I don't have a million dollars.

reply

Sure, whatever you say.....
