stunningly fun! as a Yank, some fun things I saw


-I love this series. I mean, I hang on every word, because the women are so smart, I'm afraid I'll miss a clue. Best of all the LEAD gal is a Librarian (I am too) and it looks like she holds cram sessions at her library *(in the second season)

--SOME beefs, though, although they make the series more fun:

MOST of the British men are great-looking (especially the "perfect" husband to the married Mom.) That isn't true IRL, is it? Let's see some homely British men, ok?

The promotional background stuff shown afterwards talked about the extra care it took to make everything look "1950's". DUH---London and just about every detail of it looks OLD. To American eyes, it's like stepping out of a time machine into the 1930's, or the 1830's.

They show the lower-class girl with the wonderful IDETIC memory just walking away from her abusive husband. This wouldn't happen IRL....he would search her out and beat her up, again and again.
