it's a drama. Possibly Oscar chances for Franco.
Straight Edge is the only way to be free.
Rachel Weisz FOR Catwoman!
Thank you for letting me know. Either way I was and still am quite interested in this movie. IMO, Hill should branch out from comedy more. He has the potential.

Seeing the names James Franco and Jonah Hill heading it up did immediately conjure up the image of some Pineapple Express sequel or something equally irreverent.
But I don't know, it's a bit risky having a drama intensive film with a cast who are both known to be in that "comedy circle" (the one with - Jason Siegel, Seth Rogen, Danny McBride etc.) In fact, they're all going to be in that comedy Apocalypse together as themselves.
Although they both have Oscar nominations, I suppose. I hope it at least has dark comedic elements to the film.
Definately going to be a serious movie. Based on Finkels book with same title. Christian Longo killed his wife and 3 small children in Oregon (strangled wife and infant daughter before putting them in a suitcase and throwing them into the ocean). Tied pillowcases with large rocks in them to his 3 and 4 year old son and daughter and threw them into ocean alive. Fled to Mexico and assumed Finkels identity. Finkel was a writer for a NY newspaper at the time. FBI caught Longo in Mexico after being put on the 10 most wanted list in 2001. All the while Finkel was being fired for fabricating a story about child slavery in Africa. Finkel and Longo then began a strange releationship that last 14 months while Longo was on trial. Crazy story, true story hence the title. Like boh actors a lot more for comedic roles, but both very talented and with 127 hours and MoneyBall both should be great.
shareI thought it would be a comedy as well when I saw those two names. It's not dissimilar from seeing Jim Carrey and Robin Williams in a movie together and it being a drama; both are accomplished actors with success in dramatic roles but both are more known for their comedic talents.
So Seth Rogen's star-studded post-apocalyptic comedy is back on track, eh? Good to hear. I liked the idea when I first heard of it but I thought it had been permanently derailed long ago. I hope he can get superstars like Will Smith to play dead versions of themselves like he has previously mentioned.
It's a little dissimilar though. At least for Jonah Hill. Both Jim Carrey and Robin Williams are well established as talented actors. Even their comedic roles have enjoyed a lot of serious critical acclaim. I mean Truman Show and Eternal Sunshine are still two of my favourite films.
I just felt like using them together was a weird choice, you know. Like putting Bill Murray and Chevy Chase in a Cronenberg film... wait a second... I retract.
James Franco is not a comedy actor. He started with drama and he is pretty versatile, played in some comedies, but he is made for drama. On the other hand, Jonah Hill is a comedy actor, but he was pretty good in Moneyball and his performance was critically acclaimed, when a director chooses an actor for a role, he it doesn't matter he is a comedy actor as long as he is fits the character on the paper and on his mind, probably Jonah Hill is exactly how the journalist in the films should be.

Rachel Weisz FOR Catwoman!
Franco is an established versatile actor who first and foremost is known by everyone as a serious dramatic actor, with basically a ratio of 20 to 2,with that 2 being pineapple express and your highness. The guy played James Dean, and played him well,as well as many other great roles, like 127 hours,a movie he carried solely, and carried it well. He made the onedimensional character of Oz not so onedimensional, and then of course lots of indie and studio films that were dramas.
shareWhen I looked at the title and saw Jonah Hill attached, I thought it was a comedy, but looking closer it seems like it isn't.

You know that you should read a whole board before posting on it, right? Instead of ignoring the general passage of time and the change in this board's topic direction.
