I wanna take this movie seriously...
... I really really do. The problem is it has Jonah Hill and James Franco and Ethan Suplee (from My Name Is Earl). It's going to be really hard to take this drama seriously. Franco can do drama, Suplee was in American History X, and Jonah Hill has had his moments (Moneyball and The Wolf of Wall Street [which Suplee was also in]). The problem is that with the three of them together, especially Franco and Hill, I feel like I'm going to be waiting for a punchline the whole time. That's not to say I'm not going to give this movie a chance. I hope it does well, but I'm afraid it'll attract a lot of the Rogan/Franco/Hill comedy fans who'll leave disappointed while the people looking for a really tight drama will be upset that it has actors who aren't in their minds experienced in making a drama. I feel like if this was made with different actors (or at least not Jonah Hill), it would be more favorably looked at. Of course all being said, I think we should probably wait for it to be screened before we make too many judgements.
