That's not the only thing that's off...
Longo also confessed shortly after be if arrested and cried like a b!tch when he was sentenced. He wasn't some charismatic criminal like portrayed in the movie.
Longo confessed with a lie stating he came home and found that his wife had murdered his kids and then he killed her. Any tears he cried I'm sure we're crocodile tears or tears for himself. He's undoubtedly a sociopath and a very calculated criminal. That's evident in the several intricate lies he told before murdering his family.
