James Franco's Offscreen Persona Damages This Film

This film has several flaws but the main thing is, James Franco is one of those actors who damages the believability of the drama. Actors's offscreen personas sometimes leak into films that you can't perceive him/her otherwise. And I think he is only credible when in the hands of an "actors director", which rarely happened hitherto.

It is a little hard to see him as someone else. I usually try not to know much about actors personal lives because I can't not think of it as I watch their work but some actors you just can't get away from. Tom Cruise for instance is someone who I can't see as anyone but crazy Tom Cruise. This movie probably could have been a little better with a different actor. But he did a good job.
