If you didn't already know who his character was with his mustache from the first two movies, you'd have no idea what this movie even is from the trailers they're showing. It looks like one of those Haunting/Nun/Annabelle flicks.
Your statement is only true for Nile. Murder on the Orient Express made $352 million on a $55 million budget. It was a smashing success, which is why they made a second film.
I don't think we can say that yet. MOTOE was a huge financial success and this film is getting very good reviews. If this film does well at the box office it will only be Nile that was a failure.
Well I just got out of it and honestly I'd have to say it's my least favorite of the three. (I've seen other people say it's the best though, so your mileage may vary.)
Are they downplaying it? As soon as I saw Branagh and the 'stache I knew exactly what this would be. Maybe they are also trying to get the horror fans into the theater, which is odd cause I wouldn't say its really a horror film.
If anyone's interested, I reviewed the movie on my youtube channel. Appreciate any feedback. Trying to improve -https://youtu.be/kPKUjWTmQuU
If you genuinely don't mind feedback on your channel and are trying to improve it, I have a few things:
1. Give yourself more head room. The top of your head is brushing up against the top of the frame, which is uncomfortable for the viewer. It makes the image feel cramped.
2. It looks like the camera is shooting you at a slight upward angle. Adjust it so that it's facing you head on.
3. Put a new set together. I'm sure it took effort to paste all those posters or DVD covers (or whatever they are) on the wall, and it obviously lets people know what the channel is about, but it feels very cluttered and busy, almost claustrophobic.
4. Improve your lighting. Learn how to light and shoot to create a sense of depth. Everything feels very flat.
5. Boost your audio. I am listening with headphones on my phone and even with my audio turned all the way up, your voice is kind of faint.
I respect your hustle because I know you've been at this for a while but there are a lot of technical things you could do which would lead a better presentation and probably more subs.
thanks for the feedback. will take some of this to heart. ive been experimenting with the lighting and the camera, audio is difficult as youtube always seems to make the sound lower than what im working with when I edit.
Good luck! I'm in the YouTube game as well and I'm learning as I go, so I know how it is. As a movie reviewer, you're already trying to succeed in a niche that is saturated with players, so you'll have to not only make sure your technical aspects are spot-on but you'll have to try to find a way to offer something when it comes to movie commentary that no one else is offering. Find a way to make your channel unique.
