At the end of last season, the team was trapped in a burning building and the season premiere revealed that everyone survived, but what happened to the new guy on their team? I can't remember his name but he was young and black. He was with the team during the fire but when the new season started, he just disappeared and wasn't shown or mentioned again.
He quit the job if i remember correctly.
shareThe young fireman "Jason Kannell" had taken the fall for his superior "Lieutenant Doyle" who made a mistake in not measuring gas levels before having his team go in. He was doing it so Doyle, who died in the fire, wouldn't be remembered poorly.
Under those circumstances there was going to be a hearing where Kannell might be fired. But, Casey investigated and got the straight info to Chief Boden. After some internal fixing the hearing came off the table and Kannell was offered a position on Casey's team, Squad 3.
As I remember it, Kannell was still a bit emotionally scarred, and I don't remember him taking up the offer.
