I have read many rave reviews about this series, but I don't normally watch shows about firefighters, as I am not particularly interested in shows about firefighters. So my question is, is this series good enough and worth watching for someone like me who usually does not watch firefighter shows?

Honestly, I was never really into firefighter shows either in the past, the only reason I even decided to give this show a try in the first place was because of Jesse Spencer, I love him!๎ and I ended up loving the series as a whole, I love Jesse/Casey and many of the other characters too, and I love the writing especially in the first few seasons. This show has a good balance of both fire rescues and the focus on the characters' personal lives.
And don't worry...I'm sure there are other fans of this show who don't usually watch firefighter shows either and CF is probably the only exception๎น
However I do agree with isensiel that the writing overall has gone downhill lately, especially in S4...although S4 still has its good moments, but in general S4 has been quite lackluster compared to the previous seasons...let's hope the upcoming S5 will be better.
I watch for the occasional glimpse of Taylor Kinney and Jesse Spencer in a towel ;-)

shareI liked Jesse Spencer in House MD, he is actually the reason this series caught my attention, but I've been putting it off because as I said before, I usually do not like to watch firefighter shows. But reading so many rave reviews about this series and I am running out of good TV shows to watch lately, I'll have to add this series to my shrinking watchlist soon.
shareI love Jesse in House too! it looks like alot of people who watch this show got into it because of Jesse ๎ I know a lot of CF fans initially became interested in CF because they liked Jesse in House...which is totally understandable considering House was such a popular long-running show and Jesse's character Dr. Chase was very popular, so many of Jesse's fans or people who like him moved onto CF after House ended.
I love Jesse's character Casey in CF too, he's 1 of my fave characters on this show, his character was the best in the first few seasons...until the writers decided to hook him up with Dawson, then it just went downhill from there. But I still love Casey overall...I just wish he would dump that obnoxious Dawson, the only real problem I have with his character now is his relationship with Dawson, but other than that I love everything else about Casey๎
This show is not about firefighters or firefighting as much as it is a soap opera with a firefighting background. The amount of actual 'work' diminishes with each season.
