Maybe I'm heartless but...

I'm having a hard time mustering up any sympathy for Jimmy.

Severide and I are on the same page. Sorry.

While i hated that jimmy suffered the newbie syndrome in which the new characters became expendable like jess chilton did. I guess he will never be a paramedic or firefighter again since he lost his eye.

reply

Yeah, Casey said he's done.

Its weird because I loved the Jimmy character in the beginning and think he would have been a great long term addition to 51. But your brother dying in the line of duty as a freaking fireman does not give you carte blanche to become mega douche. His behavior was horrible.

When jimmy was introduced, i liked him and felt he was a good replacement for peter. However him being a douche was a bad move. I wonder if jimmy most likely a creative one or stevens choice to leave feeling the character ran its course which was too bad.

reply

You just made me miss Peter all over again. I completely forgot about him 

It is too bad peter doesnt come back for a guest spot.

reply

Peter Mills was my favorite.

They do seem to kill off the newbies don't they?

reply

I hated that it so forced the way he disobeyed chief's and Casey's orders.

Anyway, his next job could be to watch Dawson's kid or be the next Darth Vader.

reply

I think it would been interesting to see how jimmy adjusted to his injuries rather than another newbie exit. I hope stella doesnt suffer the same fate.

reply

I don't like Stella. I don't like the way she's treating Kelly and I think she was stringing her ex-husband along for far too long.

reply

Stella should have pressed charges.

reply

Only way this works if he shifts to Chicago Med. Can't see them following his recovery on Fire.

I think Stella is here to stay.

Oooh. I like the Vader idea. He can get a black mechanical suit and terrorize Chicago. It could be a story arc on Chicago PD as they track down the "Darth Vader killer".

reply

To be honest, it was too perfect based on his injuries. He is now Two Face, and he will soon begin his reign of terror in Christopher Nolan's Gotham. He hasn't he face, he has the pent up rage, the vengeance, it's in Chicago which is Gotham for the most part. Oh yeah, and the Internet guy that throws all the parties, that's Batman, and Severide is now Robin.

reply

Perfect! I hadn't considered the wealthy Bruce Wayne character being introduced around the same time Jimmy gets his twoface burns.

reply

Ya I feel bad for Jimmy..I understand his anger but he should have had enough sense to still follow orders and do his job..if his brother didn't die...would he have listened to his chief? Or would he have disobeyed? Chances are he would have listened..so losing his brother and dealing with that grief cost him his career and almost his life..I just feel he suffered enough but that was a poor Damn way to have him leave 51.

reply

I don't think he was right to hate Boden, but that arc was poorly written. As the OP said, the writers need to do a better job with the young'uns. But Borelli and Boden's moment at the end was nice.

reply

He didn't though. His brother made a mistake and got himself killed. He refused to evacuate the building when ordered to and Boden could either give him 2 more minutes or what, send people back in to drag him out? Not really an option as far as I'm concerned.

reply

The writers are clueless when dealing with the new characters. Even slyvie brett wasnt treated this poorly when she replaced leslie shay. It is like the show is afraid to take risks and kill off one of the original characters. I wish it was gabby that died.

reply

to me, the only way they could save this damn show is kill off Scabby or have her leave the show because she has become so selfish and intolerable now, she has been dragging this show down since Shay died and the writers are only making her character even worse than she already is.

To me this show is barely hanging on a thin thread and that thread is Jesse Spencer...if it were not for Jesse, I would've dropped this damn show a long time ago.

reply

Gabby was semi tolerable when she was with Pete.r however after Leslie shay death, she became an insufferable brat that people kissed her ass and I wish she was long gone, jimmy screwed up,big time by not following Wallace orders thus his ending career mistake which was his own fault.

reply

Then, I'm heartless too. Neither can I. Showing disrespect is one thing, but disobeying direct orders is what led to this. His own fault.

I don't trust people who don't like pets and I don't trust people who pets don't like.

I feel sorry for Jimmy but you gotta admit he had it coming...

reply

The character had a lot of potential until they turned him into a disobedient d-bag.

In a span of three episodes from last season's finale to last night's 2nd episode, the writers had Jimmy go from a promising young firefighter that had potential to last on the show for some years, to pretty much being the house pariah.

It's just lazy writing by the writers. Is anybody in the house really going to be effected by his death now? It just adds to all of the cast turnover that began in Season 2.

The writers decided to be predictable, and have another person have a vendetta or grudge against Boden, and then write them off the show.

Memphis Raines: I'm a little tired, a little wired, and I think I deserve a little appreciation!

reply

Well, he didn't die. So he could still be around to keep his grudge against Boden.

reply

unlikely...judging from the ending scene with Boden & Jimmy, it looks like they're gonna resolve their feud soon.

reply

That was his exit from the show. I read it an interview with Haas on EW or one of those types of sites after the episode premiered.
