Is this woman supposed to be someone important? has she shown up on the show before? I was really confused because I felt they were playing that scene like the characters already knew her.

My gut feeling is that this woman will be a new love interest for Severide.

Absolutely. He passes up the hot a$$ for a plain Jane patient. Doesn't make sense but then again irony is life

for just a very brief moment I wondered if they were going to bring back Kelly's sister Katie. only now she has amnesia and doesn't remember how or why she is in Chicago.

That was another terrible exit of a promising young character. Kidnapped, assaulted, and leaves Chicago? Brutal.
