Why can't Severide find a permanent love?

Didn't he just get with the female firefighter? What happened. Now, they have him with Anna, the bone marrow patient. Why?

reply

Because that would be boring and this is tv.

reply

Someone needs to spice things up on the show.

reply

Unfortunately for me Severide's non stop girl of the week storylines are becoming as boring as the DoorMatt Casey and his subservience to Gabby ones.

Maybe they can switch roles for awhile...Kelly finds a love and Casey kicks Gabby to the curb and sows some wild oats. lol

reply

He is the playboy, he isn't supposed to settle down. That is Casey's role.

reply

because Severide is basically a walking sex organ who cannot be with just one woman for more than a week...he's your typical playboy who just jumps from one woman to the next one as frequently as he changes his underwear. He's had quite alot of "girlfriends" on the show and many more sex partners...I wouldn't even be able to begin to compile a list of all the ladies his character has slept with on the show.

reply

What happened with him and the female firefighter? I thought they were living together and then he shot the ex-husband, and then -- what happened between them?

reply

who knows...like I said before, he's your typical playboy who just jumps from one woman to the next one, sometimes he doesn't really need a reason...he's the type of guy who frequently has one-night-stands and brief flings with numerous different random women and then just moves on, he doesn't need any good reason to break up with women. Severide's the type of womanizer who just wants to play around and flirt with as many women as he could...I've met quite alot of playboys like him, guys like him never change.

Btw Severide and Stella (the female firefighter) never lived together, they only had a brief fling which Stella later ended it because of her ex-husband.

reply

And that is why Severide is the most interesting character on the show. He is wild and reckless in his personal life yet a fearless leader on the job. He is a single great looking guy so why not live it up? To have him hook up in a permanent relationship would take away a lot of future storylines. May still happen this season, but certainly not with Stella. Not his type.

Casey was interesting, but the character has been marginalized a great deal for a long time. Ever since he hooked up with Gabby. Simply not an interesting character and the Godawful Louie storyline has been going on seemingly forever. Please make it stop.

reply

All of the girls he's been with haven't just been one night stands. He's tried to have relationships with them but it just hasn't worked out for one reason or another....and it's never really been from him dumping the girl.

I think he's just really bad at picking woman. 2 or 3 have moved away from chicago, 1 used him (I think she was a lawyer), etc.

reply

did you forget that random blond short-hair woman that Severide picked up at a bar and had a one-night-stand with in S3? His "type" is basically virtually any attractive woman he lays his wondering eyes on...I bet he's had plenty of one-night-stands with many other random different women. Let's face it, he's a womanizer he loves to play around...guys like him don't settle down. And did you all forget his "wife" Brittany in S3 whom he "married" in Las Vegas within just 24 hours of meeting her? That "marriage" certainly didn't last long and he sure moved on from her very quickly...I wonder if he ever got a divorce from her. All his "relationships" were either mere flings or just one-night-stands...the only real "serious" relationship he's had on the show was probably his
"marriage" to Brittany, but even that was short-lived.

reply

I think he's just afraid of getting hurt again so he keeps things loose and casual. Remember, he was engaged to Renee Whaley and then found her in bed with her ex-boyfriend, Dean, two days before their wedding. Given the other issues in his life, it's no wonder that's affected him for so long.

I don't think more electricity is what this guy really needs. Just throwin' it out there.

reply

That wife you mentioned is one who he asked a few times to stay and not leave, but she left anyway.

A cheating fiancé. A woman who showed back up and claimed he was the father of her baby...but Shay figured out she was scamming him.

Like I said before...he's just bad at picking woman. It's not a lack of interest on his part.

reply

I doubt it's just that...when he picked up that random blonde woman at the bar and had a one-night-stand with her in S3, he seemed like he's done that kind of thing many times before, so I would not dismiss the likelihood that he's had plenty of one-night-stands with many random women in the past.

Ok, so besides that brief "fiancee" in S1 and his "marriage" to Brittany in S3, name another "relationship" he had that lasted for more than 1 week? He's "dated" many more ladies other than those 2 on the show and it seemed like he only "dated" them for like 1 week or so at the most...he just sleeps with and jumps from one woman to the next one. He's a playboy who likes to play around, that's how he is, despite some people defending his blatant womanizing ways.

reply

Technically Severide is still married to Brittany according to Derek Haas.

reply

Stella, Lindsay from chicago pd, the nurse from chicago med, the lawyer (I think she was a lawyer) he met at a meeting/support group that totally screwed him over after a while....

I'm not saying he hasn't had hookups. But to say that's all he does and has done is inaccurate.

reply

Kelly cant seem to find true love despite various hookups.

reply

Kelly takes too much after his dad and doesn't want to hurt people the way he, his mother, and his half-sister were hurt by Benny.

reply

He should go to therapy but is probably too stubborn to even consider it.

reply

I doubt therapy would help something like that. It's just his nature.

reply

You have to remember his state of mind when he went to Vegas. He had lost his only rock when Shay died. Yes, he had his folks--a dad who left him and his mom and has married about three times since and his mom who is/was an alcoholic. He had those at the firehouse, but they probably just reminded him of Shay and wasn't able to really deal with them. He needed something in his life that was stable and Shay-free. Though I didn't get married, I went off the deep end when my mom died. The reason they didn't work out is it turned out that Brittany was using Kelly to avoid facing reality, too. He made the decision to let her go back to her family.

He actually has had a couple of relationships. Season one, there was Renee. She did come back pregnant with someone else's child and he still offered to stay with her and help with the baby. Season two, there was Erin. If you don't watch PD, you might not realize how involved they were (I didn't.) Season three, Brittany. Season 4 brought us Jamie (the lawyer), Alex (the agent he helped out), and Stella. Then there was JJ's mom, who he didn't sleep with, but I think he felt something for her. There's also April, but I don't really know how to fit her in. Oh, she was season 3, too.

Why I personally don't see him as a womanizer is he doesn't lie to the women, never been more than one at a time, and I've never seen him degrade them. I've also never actually seen him pursue a woman--it's usually the other way around. And yes, he's had one night stands--but maybe that's all the woman wanted, too?

reply

I missed first twenty mins or so... how did he not get nailed for DUI or smashing up the Mustang? Last I saw, he was bout to be arrested...

reply

he probably gave the officers his "aww shucks" gap-toothed smile and they decided not to charge him with anything.

reply

It was explained on the Chicago PD episode 2 weeks ago. He did get arrested but it was discovered that Severide wasn't driving the Mustang when it was crashed. He did get in his car and leave the bar. He drove 2 blocks and realized he definitely shouldn't be behind the wheel. He pulled over and got out of the car. Two guys came up to him and one of them pistol whipped him (how he got the cut on his head), they then took his keys and stole his car. One of them was driving the mustang and the other was following in their own vehicle when the driver of the Mustang ran a red light and struck the van. There are more details to the story (these guys were stealing a lot of cars by planting GPS trackers on them) but those are the basics.

That storyline was straight out of Chicago PD headlines. It actually happens that there are rings of car thieves (supposedly gangs) that go to the rich suburbs and steal the expensive cars and go back into the city and rob and do drivebys.

There will be a story arc where Severide finds out he is HIV positive because of too much sex. The story will continue on Chicago Med where he learns he is actually not HIV positive, it was just a mistake, but he will get a lecture from one of the hot nurses about the importance of wearing condoms. He will then smile and say "ribbed condoms?". Then the next scene he is at Costco with the hot nurse picking up a case of ribbed condoms on their way to his apartment.

I like the way you think dude. 
