I know this question should probably be on the Chicago PD message broads but what happened between Antonio and his ex-wife. I know they're divorced but why? I know it was her who pull the plug but why?

As far as I know they were happily married up until the showrunners had one of their big ideas and threw in a separation out of nowhere. There was no foreshadowing and very little thought behind the change. Kinda like when Dawson suddenly wanted to be a firefighter after only showing interest in medicine.

It happened at the end of the first season of PD. Laura walks out on him and takes the kids with her. I think later on she files for divorce but she wants one from the beginning. It was over his job and how dangerous it is. She wanted the family to move to the suberbs and for Antonio to take a low key police job. He didn't want to give up his job and thought they could make it work. Pretty sure they share custody of the kids. They have been divorced for 3/4 years...they act like the divorce just happened. Also I'm pretty sure he had a fling with on old cop partner of his in the earlier seasons after Laura left him. I'm also pretty sure that we hear that Laura had been dating a few seasons ago. They act like this whole situation is really fresh and that he wasn't ready to date...Brett. I figured they had all moved on. Antonio should of set Laura straight and had dialogue with her where he told her this is how it's going to be and she wanted out so here they are. That would of been better than what they actually wrote.

This is another reason why I believe the writing on this show has suffered. Laura left Antonio at the end of Season 1 of PD because she thought he cared more about the job. Antonio tried hanging on hoping she'd come back in Season 2 before he realized it was over. And he explained on PD this past fall that Laura had neglected her duties to travel with her rich boyfriend. So it should not matter to her who is spending time with their kids. She can basically neglect her duties, but Antonio's girlfriend can't spend time with their son? That makes no sense.

And then the writers bring up this problem now? Laura and Antonio have been divorced over 2 years now. It's not like they're separated or having an affair. And the writers use this to break up Antonio and Sylvie. That's just cheap. And once again, another non-Dawsey storyline that gets the axe. It's getting pathetic. The great thing about the Antonio-Sylvie relationship was that most of it was off-screen. So we weren't spending a lot of time listening and watching their drama.

I think laura was acting like a self righteous bitch who wants to play mom and probably jealous antonio moved on slyvie.

I agree, I didn't like her at all.

I thought it was nice that Sylvie wanted to learn how to play chess but then, I'm not sure a 13 year old boy would want to hang out with some woman.

Antonio had his mom and she could probably learn how to play chess.

The writers are really confusing the viewers b/c Laura/Antonio have been OVER AND DONE WITH A DIVORCE for about 2 or 3 years ago, right? Anyway, as a poster mentioned Laura was "jetting setting" around w/her rich boyfriend, are we suppose to forget about all that drama? Laura wasn't "mother of the year" b/c she was "too busy" w/her bf. I mean hello what a horrible way to break up Sylvie/Antonio, who I actually liked as a couple; they at least had chemistry when on screen together, and I can count on one hand the times they were even on screen w/each other. I hope Sylvie/Antonio will reconnect eventually, b/c they seemed very happy w/each other whenever they did show them. I will NEVER understand WHY these writers think the viewers will not see and/or catch their little "rewrites" to "suit their needs" and go different routes w/the "crazy drama" that has been addressed & resolved a few years ago. Enough already!

Totally agree with you.

Where did this whole "she a mama bear" come from when she was out shaking her butt with rich boyfriends. I was very confused at the whole episode and it seemed the writers want us to forget how they painted Antonio as this lonely cop looking for love. Now he is some guy that has his kids around any woman and the women are named by their hair color and to be disrespected. And I guess we are to forget they have been separated and divorced for years. Smh.
