IMDB IS SHUTTING DOWN THE VOICE OF THE PEOPLE

Have you all seen the announcement that IMDB is retiring the message boards? First they censor us, now they're taking the whole damn thing away? The message boards are what motivated people like me to sign up in the first place. What purpose does registering now serve If you can't post your thoughts?

reply

WTF?!?!? Why even bother visiting IMDb if we can't interact on the message boards???

reply

"Hey guys, love your iPhone?! You're gonna love this instead, here's two cans on a string!"

reply

OMG! This sucks! I've only registered here to be able to share my thoughts with fellow fans and to read other people comments which were not limited by 140 characters like on Twitter...It is clear to me that they don't want to hear any critical POWs and that's the real reason why they're closing the message boards.
I do hope that some of the IMDb forum users will migrate to Previously.tv (a site run by TWoP's original founders)

I enjoy the message boards and I'm bummed that they're eliminating them. Dumb move on their part.

reply

What they need to do rather than closing the message boards is to start moderating them. I use the message boards more than anything else here. I find it helpful however when I'm trying to think of the name of somebody from a movie or TV show.

reply

The problem with moderating the forums is that there is just too many forums to moderate. The good thing about IMDb message boards is that there is literally a forum for every actor, director, movie, tv show and so on. But realistacally keeping track of that many different forums is just unthinkable.

reply

Why bother visiting...? Maybe for information, trivia, goofs, news, updates, box office info, reviews, ratings, etc? The boards have become a troll fest, unmoderated cess pool of garbage. Go on any Marvel or D.C. Movie board. It's nothing but spam, fights, troll fests, pointless debates, name calling, etc.

reply

Well you know, Amazon could always take their head out of their ass and use the billions of dollars they have and hire moderators to you know, to patrol the boards.🙄

I have a fansite if you guys still want to meet up and discuss things. It's nothing fancy, but it's a place to talk and socialize.

I don't think more electricity is what this guy really needs. Just throwin' it out there.
