Why is this not playing anywhere except Hollywood/Downtown L.A.?
That completely sucks. Will it expand to other theaters?
It wasn't me who was murdered, was it?

Because Hollywood has no faith in anything that isn't a sequel, prequel, reboot or superhero movie. Unless it's an Oscar bait film, then maybe just maybe, it will open in a theater near you 2 months after its initial release.

Well that's sad. This movie looks good but I'm not going to be able to see it in the theater now unless I make a three-plus hour round trip drive to the biggest pain-in-the-ass town on earth to do so. And that's not likely to happen. It wouldn't have killed them to put it in ONE theater in OC or Ventura County, geez.
It wasn't me who was murdered, was it?
Well, I saw it today (January 31) at the AMC Promenade theater in Woodland Hills (that's in the San Fernando Valley, off of Topanga Canyon Boulevard). I think this means that the release has "expanded" so I would expect it to be in Ventura and Orange County quite soon, if it isn't already, now.
shareMeanwhile, in the Midwest: I saw it last night here in Minneapolis, where it's playing at just a very few theaters--you really had to search for it. Looking ahead to next week's schedule, it's down to just morning showings in even fewer theaters.
The studios must have had no confidence in the movie. I don't understand why: I thought it was a pretty good adventure story, well filmed, well acted.
I saw it in NYC in the theater on 3rd ave and 11th st if you're in NYC it's playing there.

The treatment of this movie is disgracefully. Black Sea deserve better promotion.
shareIn St. Louis, it played on one screen at a 20-plex for one week. I thought it was good.
shareIt seems to be everywhere now. I enjoyed it. I thought it was pretty suspenseful and had good pacing.
It wasn't me who was murdered, was it?
It's certainly not everywhere.
I think the studio thought that American audiences wouldn't be able to understand the Scottish accents. Remember, Hollywood thinks we are idiots.

Ah...sorry. I will clarify that it appears to be everywhere in my particular area now.
I will be straight up on the accent thing--I DID have a hard time understanding quite a bit of the dialogue. I don't think that makes me stupid, it's just that I am not used to those accents. I still understood what was going on and enjoyed the film, there were just some lines where I was like "What did he say??" =/
It wasn't me who was murdered, was it?
It is now playing widely around the country, but not in a large number of theaters per market. Understandably, the exhibitors probably proved wary of its chances.
