So... Betty Brant made no sense

I didn't really want Betty Brant to be in high school, (mostly because she works way better as an older woman in the Daily Bugle environment) but since they decided to go with that angle anyway, I thought it made sense that she would be a school reporter since it would foreshadow her eventual career at the paper. Then I realized... she worked at the Daily Bugle as a receptionist. So... yeah! Doesn't really fit now, does it?

Then again, did anyone resemble the comic book character they were based on? Besides Peter and Tony.

They also dressed her up like Gwen Stacy for no reason.

That's my only real complaint as a Spider-Man fan. They kind of had the habit of taking random teenagers and giving them names of Spidey's supporting cast. Betty, "MJ", Ned, and Liz were basically new characters with the names of people from the comics tacked on. Flash worked a little bit better as he was still a spoiled popular rich kid, wasn't very smart, and enjoyed torturing Peter.

It really bothered me, honestly. The only time I think they should change a character for an adaptation is if they come up with something as good or even better than what was originally established. For example, I thought that this movie's Vulture was just as, if not more, interesting as the Adrian Toomes from the comics. Everyone else though, Shocker, Aunt May, "MJ"... I really don't think they added anything special or interesting with the changes.
