Claire's accusation of Hardy

During the interrogation, Claire accused Hardy of trying to sleep with her while in hiding from Lee.
Was she just bluffing to cast doubt on Hardy or was there some truth?

reply

She was lying.

reply

Did Claire have feelings for Hardy and was delusional?

reply

I didn't interpret it that way. Claire has just been arrested as a murder suspect, she's trying desperately to say anything she can think of to try to save her own skin. Blurting out "the police officer who had just arrested me once raped me" was a ploy.

reply

I thought so too at first. I'm wondering if Claire deliberately made the accusation on record to be used as a plot device in series 3. She could easily make the same claim on the stand and cast doubt on the jury.

reply

Hardy called her bluff and challenged her to "fill her boots" accusing him. She backed down. Thus, it was a lie.

Claire changed her account of the night of Pippa's murder to keep Hardy confused -- especially while he was sick. It was a great tactic because Hardy really had no idea what was the truth and what wasn't. It took Ellie to see through Claire and start to pick the true story out of all the confusing statements and evidence.

reply

All the same, I hope the Ashworths and Ricky Gillespie don't get off on a technicality, especially from swaying the jury. I'm still annoyed about Joe Miller's case.

reply

I think the Sandbrook case is finished -- except maybe for fall-out on Tess for prioritizing a shag over getting evidence back to the station safely. I doubt we'll see Claire, Lee or Ricky in series 3.
