Worst. Prosecutor. Ever.

Seriously. Throughout the entire trial I can only recount once when she objected, and of course it was overruled. Soooo many times the defense attorney was making baseless speculations and the Pros. never bothered to step in and point this out?! How was this woman the supposed best legal representation ever? She barely said anything throughout the entire trial.

Susan claims she sees Nigel from 200 yards away.... at 4 AM.... why was this fact never brought up?!

Defense Attorney talks about Hardy & Miller spending time in a hotel together and insists they had an affair. Now, this scene really made me laugh, because all Miller had to say was "No." Instead, she gets uber-defensive, yelling out "NOOOO", all the while the music is ramping up the tension. I would LOVE to see this scene with no music going. It would look hysterical.

The whole "theory" about the father killing Danny, because he saw him with another woman. Why wasn't this discussed by the pros. more?? 1) Danny could have already been dead by this point (He was). 2) While sketchy, having a woman drop him off at his car isn't a total admission of having an affair.

I don't know. There are a lot of parts in this show that I really enjoyed. Then there are parts that I can't ignore that made me want to rip off my fingernails. The constant use of slow-mo, the 25 fade-to-blacks in every episode, the Internet meme-ish 'Dramatic chipmunk' music that pops in every time the show wants you to think someone was the murderer. (Sorry, I'm rambling now.)

While I did enjoy the show, even season 2, I kept thinking the same thing throughout the entire season, any time a court room scene happened. For someone who was supposedly supposed to be the best prosecution attorney ever, she didn't seem to be very good. There were so many things the defense said that she should have addressed/tried to disprove or at least objected to them cause it was just ridiculous and often baseless. Like the accusation that Hardy and Ellie were having an affair. Their proof was her going into his hotel room once, after Joe had been arrested. That hardly proves an affair. They would have to have tapes of her visiting his room often to have that theory hold up even a little bit in court.

Basically, while I do love Broadchurch, I agree.

Once upon a time there was a magical place where it never rained. The end.

Spot on. Having seen the whole season just recently, I was thinking the same thing. Based on the flimsy prosecutions, I figured a few episodes in that the story writers planned to have him get off. Since they propose a 3rd season, I'm also figuring they plan to have him murdered and Broadchurch police will have to figure out who did it.

That is the obvious way to go, but I don't think they'll fall for such a transparent plot device, especially when it's too close to the conclusion of the earlier murdered girls case (they all did it).

Worst. Court room. Scenes. Ever.
Totally agree with you. Loved season 1, have only watched 3 eps of season 2 but the court scenes are ludicrous. I'm so disappointed a almost cried after this episode (bit of an over reaction I know, but I have been longing to see season 2 for almost a year, and the court scenes are ruining it completely!). Awful prosecutor, and that barrister is just hammering away, apparently allowed just to make up things and the judge lets her! I'm considering to stop watching because I'm so annoyed.

Is season 2 worth watching despite of the really awful court room scenes? I loved season 1 and really want to keep on loving it.
