Keys to the hut on the cliff....

Why is it empty so much of the time? Who owns it? And why does the lady in the trailer have a key?

I missed this detail...

From the book: It's a "holiday let". That is, it's a rental cottage. They never give the owner's name, only that Susan Wright cleans it just before new guests arrive. That's why she has the keys.

Thanks....yes, I did kind of get the sense it might be a rental of some type (because it was nice inside), but I wasn't sure if it was connected to the hotel, or what.

I guess in hindsight it makes sense it was empty, because in the beginning, the hotel is having trouble attracting guests....the implication being the area isn't as hot a tourist destination as it once was.
