Broadchurch Series 3 Synopsis
The sun rises, the tide washes ashore, the seagulls soar high overhead...but all is not well in the coastal town of Broadchurch. There has been another murder in the close-knit community, a body found on the beach...discovered by Susan as she walks her dog. The body is revealed to be that of Chloe Latimer, who local authorities determine was murdered, which is all that Beth Latimer's personality needs. DI Alec Hardy and DS Ellie Miller are assigned the case...because both are still around. And because why not.
So Hardy and Miller set out once again to investigate a Latimer murder, and the lives of those who were destroyed before get destroyed again. A second media frenzy is more than Maggie Radcliffe can handle, so after a night locked up at the Broadchurch Echo drinking heavily, poor Maggie turns the gun on herself...but not before shooting Olly in the head who walks in unexpectedly looking for his phone he left by accident. Ah, never mind about her turning the gun on herself. She's likable enough which is more than anyone can say for Olly. So anyway, Miller and Beth hold hands several times during which they share long cries. Mark and Nige have plenty of buddy time, reminiscing over the good times before people started committing murder in Broadchurch.
DI Hardy, pursuing a thorough investigation to the end, doing swell detective work with Miller but not actually discovering the murderer until the last episode...well, at the very end of the penultimate episode. So in the final episode, DI Hardy reveals the murderer to be Nige Carter, who had been having a secret affair with Chloe. All of this turns out to be a shocking surprise to...well, Mark & Beth, really, and no one else.
So, do I have that to be about right?
