shareThere was no definite indication that either of them were on the game, though the daughter seemed to know about the deceased's activities. I don't think the (ex) wife had much idea what her daughter was doing anyway.
shareThe ending made me wonder as well. She was straddling the curb like a hooker (or a hitchhiker) on what appeared to be the outskirts of a residential area. I don't remember seeing the location previously in the movie. I'm not sure what was going on.

shareYes they were. Thats exactly what they were doing at the end which is why he looks as though he's gonna burst into tears when he approaches them. Hugo's character warns him of it earlier while eating in the restaurant saying he has to look after her and also the fact the drug dealer knew who she was and all the calls to her mobile from the deceased girl all point at this along with her unexplained absence when the mum claims she doesn't know where she is.
shareIt was a small town, so the fact that the drug dealer knew who she was doesn't necessarily mean that she was prostituting herself, even if she did buy drugs from him.
The scene in the restaurant I interpreted as a corrupt cop telling his inquisitive colleague to stay out of his business by threatening to harm his daughter. But then after the shoot out I wasn't so sure. The intricate details as to who was involved and how are a bit understated.
I think he was warning the detective that the baddies will kill his daughter if they don't find "what's missing". This "what's missing" is why the baddies had been turning each missing girl's home upside down.
It all started with Wayne stealing a car (belonging to the baddies), which had heroin in it. When he was in an eatery on his way back, one of the girls stole the heroin from his stolen car. Hence, the baddies going after each girl to track down the missing item.
By the time Johnno and the detective were talking in the Chinese restaurant, Johnno knew the baddies were looking for the detective's daughter, who disappeared when they turned her home upside down for the heroin. The detective realized he had to find the heroin before they find Crystal, which is why he went back to the first dead girl's house.
We didn't know whether Johnno was including himself as one of the baddies when he warned the detective until he helped out during the shooting. The actual baddies were Sam and his son Pete/William and their men all along.

shareI thought it was clearly obvious they were hooking ..... Why would they be hanging on street corners so late / early ....... Was too symbolic of prostitution plus the themes running through film for it not to be ...... Plus Jays tearful reaction ..... 100 percent they were hooking
shareIt's not obvious. In fact, to me it seems that they are waiting for him. It's clearly an arranged meeting. He's driven to their destination and they've waved him down. He is tearful because it's a reunion of sorts...there is even an exchange of half-smiles. It never even occurred to me that it could be a depiction of prostitution...the woman is wearing an extremely long skirt for that sort of thing. I don't want to tell you you're completely wrong...but....
Just forget you ever saw it. It's better that way.
I don't think so, they were standing in front of their house, not knowing what to do, where to go. He has failed to protect either of them, that is what I see in those exchanged looks. All the pluck has gone out of them, and they are begging him to do what he should, and he wants to. The previous conflict between them is gone.
