The Devil's Dust
(Watching this for the first time via Netflix Canada.)
In this episode, Douglas, the ostensibly black plumber and ex-wartime buddy of Mr. Bennett's has a pet name for the "radioactive" girl, Ruth: He calls her "Bob".
Is Douglas supposed to have been mulatto, thereby making Ruth 1/4 black (since he was in reality her biological father)?
And since a "bob" is slang for a shilling (worth nearly 25 cents), was this the reason Douglas called her this? The show never explained it, and it's not like the girl's name was "Roberta" or that she sported a "bob" haircut...
