Morning Has Broken?

What the hell???

Did no one associated with this show know how anachronistic that bizarre choice was? And by quite a lot!

On the other hand, any episode taking place in the '50's where Sid has never heard of a pineapple, Freudianism is viewed as quackery and hypnotism can lead to murder/suicide (take your choice) makes this anachronism seem like child's play.

Add Jack Deam's dismal portrayal --- well, what can I say?

From Wiki: "Morning Has Broken" is a popular and well-known Christian hymn first published in 1931. :)

One learns something new every day! I had no idea.

Episode still sucked though (although not as much as the next episode).

Cat Stevens borrowing from a Christian song. Slightly ironic.

reply

He was still a Christian when he recorded it.

reply

That's true I really like Cat Stevens. I wonder if he sings it now.

Probably just before dawn.

It's that man again!!

Cat Stevens does not sing Morning Has Broken now. He donates the income from it to charity. He's a Muslim now, haven't you heard?

Bored now.

reply

Well it's hard to keep up with the great 70's singer songwriter once known as Cat Stevens. He changed his name and at one time quit performing. I honestly don't know what his status is now.

reply

Oh come on. It's friendly nonsense.

Although I knew the year Eleanor Farjeon's hymn was published, I think it was still an anachronism in that it would not have been heard in a Catholic church until at least the late 60s when "Protestant" hymns started to be added to our hymnals.

That is Rick Wakeman playing piano on the Cat Stevens record.
