I just read that the BBC has commissioned Season 5 of Father Brown due to its popularity on daytime TV. I can't wait. Hoping they bring back Inspector Sullivan for a cameo and Flambeau of course. Wish that they would show Flambeau reforming his life of crime as in the books and becoming a PI and Father Brown's sidekick a la Holmes and Watson. The new inspector is a joke. I don't like him at all.

The Kenneth More series portrayed Flambeau as a reformed character. I haven't read all the books so I don't know how was he treated in those. Anyone know?

I like the new dumb cop. He's not as suave as the others. More ragged and believable as someone who wouldn't get FB.

Did they explain what happened to the detective from S2 and S3?

Got moved up they did, promoted because of all the crimes solved in their sectors, (hee hee by FB)
