Why can't they keep actors?

This show has been on 4 seasons and has had so many supporting characters come and go. What's the problem?

Clearly they want a consistent ensemble. It's the base for a successful comedy. But why can't they keep them? Is it the actors fault? The writers?

There are some reasons why supporting characters were badly changed too quick:

1.) There was a bad financial crash on the FOX network during the 2013-2014 regular season due to these two events occuring on February 2014: Super Bowl 48 airing on FOX and Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics.

2.) This show is made by NBC and, even if FOX is part of the big four with ABC, NBC, and CBS, the problem is that FOX is having a hard time becoming equally connected to ABC, CBS and NBC for no reason at all, at the same time.

3.) Mindy Kaling is good actress, but she's considered an Indian, and it is hard for Indians to become equal to public and related to Causcasians, no offnese. But what the public and the Caucasians both didn't know that, even if she looks like an Indian with her Indian interior culture, both her voice and her interior personal educated talent are more likely the professional Caucasian types. But now it should be solved and this situation about broadening the focus on Mindy's men should slow down and reduce a little bit with causing too much imbalance in this entire show.

4.) This show was included as part of this FOX teen entertainment marketing system (along with American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance, Glee and New Girl). But it turns out that this FOX teen entertainment marketing system was created in poor technique and it caused all these five shows, which includes this one, to cause more bad changes in their own everythings along the way: characters, actors, actresses, sets, formats, lines, schedule-plannings (especially on young females ending up with their own too quick pregnancies). Thank god, this system was officially shut down back in May 2015.

5.) Finally, this may not be important yet, but there is US west coast port financial breakdown incident going on in the entire US west coast and it may have somehow badly affected everything there, including this show partially somehow. But, even if everything's not going to die soon, it may take some time for everything in the US west coast, including this show, to recover and fix up along the way.

I apologize for what's badly happening right now and these are considered the reasons on what you're asking aboutand they are strongly reasonable, nothing else, laballatician: finances, connections, poorly-created-technique projects, forced-changing schedules and etc..

Now back in this show, both every cast and crew members, since the beginning on this first episode, should understand these problems and they will recover along the way. The past ones, who were let go too quick, may not be gone yet. They should reappear and be reduced guests in this show's future episodes, without a doubt, even if Mindy's considered the more important focus along the way. The focus on Mindy's men situation should decrease a little bit in the meantime, since it been clear to public officially. Finally, I know it will stayput in Hulu until its series finale, but we want to make sure they all come back in this show's series finale completely and also not make it end up having a same big problem as former FOX sitcom Glee.

They just retooled the show. It happens all the time. For example, on another show I watch, Mom, the show originally took place a lot at the main character's workplace and also, was a lot about her kids. So her coworkers and her kids were on every episode. At some point, they realized the workplace was dumb and also made it less about her kids. So the coworkers are almost never on, and the kids are recurring, but they've hired new actors to be in the main character's AA group, which is the focus of the show.

On TMP, they originally had a character of Mindy's best friend and her older mentor, Dr. Shulman, but they got rid of those characters. I think they decided it would be better to have a lot of recurring characters instead of so many regular characters (It's also apparently cheaper and something a lot of Fox shows do -- another example is Bones, where they had the intern, Zack, on the first two seasons, every episode, then wrote him off and replaced him with about 8 interns who revolve and aren't all on every episode). In that way, the show is more similar to shows like Louie or Master of None, where it is really about the main character and his/her day instead of always being about the same ensemble. Yes, it would have been nice if they'd known that in the first place, but I think they started off wanting it to be a more traditional sit-com (Those other shows are not on major networks, and now, neither is Mindy). I really never cared about any of the characters who left. I'd rather see Mindy's recurring boyfriends or the midwives than see Gwen or Shauna on every episode. To me, those characters were kind of conventional and boring.

I understand. It just seems that for a show in its fourth season, it has been retooled a lot.

I don't think any actor considered as permanent has left since the second season, and that was the completely worthless Betsy, who shouldn't have made it past the first half of the first season. Palley was always a temporary hire, and he's actually been back numerous times since he left. I think may be in an episode for the second half of this season.

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if moving to Hulu gives MK leeway to make the show more like Master of None or Louie, since it no longer has to comport with network television conventions. I love Louie and liked Master of None, so that wouldn't bother me at all.

One good advantage about Master Of None is that it is permanently considered a part of Netflix network, since it's first episode airing, and Master Of None was well prepared ahead of its own timing than this show. Also, Netflix is not a real public major television network as NBC, ABC, CBS and FOX, so it's alright for Master Of None to do some strong retooling along the way in Netflix and that's also good and safe enough.

Back to this show, I know Gwen and Shauna became too quickly worthless in the middle of the first season, in a hurry. Betsy wasn't that worthless along the way, but removing her in a hurry was kind of too dangerously careless, but there could be a chance that she might return before this series' final episode approachment as optional rather avoidance. Peter isn't that bad, although, he switched from being irritating to being serious, which is important, but he will continued guest-appearing along the way.

I agree about TMP being in Hulu for now, but it may not be quite equal to MON yet, since TMP recently entered Hulu this season, which is in the middle of its own long-run series.
