Does anyone else think this season is awful?

I feel like it's scattered and messy....and Mindy is turning into a caricature of herself. Her selfishness used to be funny and quirky because it was sporadic but now it's constant. I used to really love this show and now it's just...meh. When she predictably fell into the pool it really turned me off. I loved that this show wasn't like all the other sitcoms...it was weird and absurd...but now the style seems more mainstream...

The scene of her falling into the pool bothered me too...it was so cliche. It's ironic that it was less mainstream while on FOX and now is going in the other direction since the writers have a lot more leeway to break out of the cookie cutter mold on Hulu. There were a few good episodes a few weeks ago, but the last two episodes have been pretty weak. Plus, it was weird having Peter on there without him being his normal "Peter self" that we were used to in seasons 2 and 3.

She should be well known to all white people in this show without anymore ignorance. But they need to lower down the broadened focus on Mindy's men because it is getting too tiring for us to follow and finish on time and the whole show needs to continue fixing its balance along the way. Those old friends of Mindy's should return to this show as reduced guests next season.

Hated the first half, absolutely love the second... The show is just so much better without the Danny/Mindy romantic pairing, though I do miss Danny in the office.

LHartz, I agree that it's nice not to have the focus on a Mindy/Danny romantic pairing anymore, although I also miss having him in the office. The dynamic is pretty different and less comedic without him there.

When Jody and Colette came in, I first preferred her and wanted Jody to leave bc I felt like the writers were pushing him on the audience to fill the Danny void, but now I much prefer Jody over Colette and think that he has somewhat eased the blow of Danny not being in the office.

Totally agree. The first scene with Jody, the subway scene where he shamed her for breastfeeding, instantly turned me off of him, but I've since grown to adore him... Just wish he would apologize for his douchey views on public breastfeeding.

I've really likes this season. We've come a really far way from where we started in the fall, but it's worked for me. The heart of the show has always been about playing with rom com cliches. She's done that really well this season.

Seasons 3 and 4 became more awful when there were forced changes between season 2 and of this show.

I agree, I fell in love with Mindy the first few seasons, but this season I cannot stand her. She's become such a selfish bitch. And I can't handle her new lips

I am so in agreement with you. It's so awful and scattered. I used to look forward to it now I don't even bother. Messina is gone and now isn't even a season regular he is only a guest star next season. I'm over it and I'm sure my fella is tired of me ranting about how sick I am of watching my favorite show circle the drain. Never thought I'd see it happen.

It is very disappointing. And I absolutely hate Morgan. They ought to call it "Morgan and Mindy" since Danny left he's just been too much. And for being a single mother she never seems to have her kid. I'm guessing the writers are regretting doing that since she is even more irresponsible now than she ever was before.

I have really enjoyed this season. I think it has had to be all over the place, because she is getting her life back together after a serious breakup, and, as such, she's all over the place. She couldn't have just jumped straight into another serious relationship after Danny. I hated Jody at first, too, but I think we viewers were supposed to. If he were perfect from the beginning, it would have been less surprising/exciting when he emerged as boyfriend potential.

As for the pool scene, this show has always taken cliché romantic comedy tropes and given them the Mindy treatment (remember her obsession with the Empire State Building?). The pool scene was funny because she did not come out looking sexy/cute (what usually happens in romantic comedies pool fall scenes) but like a wet mess.

This show is still great, and I can't wait to see what happens next season.
