I Love The Mindy Project But Hate All the Characters

Just like the title of the topic says, I hate the characters. I just binge watched the latest season. Loved it. Didn't skip a beat moving from FOX to Hulu. Addictive. Fast paced. It all works. But something leaves a bad taste in my mouth as soon as I finish watching and I'm pretty sure it's the characters. Yes they have their good qualities, but they're over shadowed by the bad ones. Feel free to come at me if you disagree.

Mindy: Super annoying. Acts like a child and a slut at the same time and comes across as being hyper creepy. Is irresponsible in literally every way. Lies a lot to the point that it's actually kinda concerning. Is abusive to the only man in her life who isn't abusive to her (Morgan). Uses her baby as a prop. Doesn't seem to care about anyone or anything but her own happiness. Is a horrible friend and girlfriend.

Danny: Psychopath. Sexist. Crazy jealous. Stubborn. Rude. Mean. A total dick to literally everyone except his mother who he has a very, very disturbing relationship with. Is a horrible friend and boyfriend. Also a slut. Morally schizophrenic. Abusive to the people who care about him. Old.

Morgan: Disturbed. Obsessive. Needy. Clingy. Gross. A stalker. Weird. I could go on.

Jeremy: Boring. Pussy. No balls. No spine. Doormat. Uptight.

Tamra: Literally useless.

Beverly: Grumpy. Always complaining. Boring.

Jody: See: Everything I said about Danny minus the mother part but add various STDs.

Casey: I'm pretty sure he's extremely bipolar and extremely unmedicated.

Colette: Lazy. Stupid. Has a strange relationship with her brother (not unlike Danny's with his mother). And I'm pretty sure she's mentally retarded.

My love for this show is a testament to how funny the actors are, because the writing is atrocious. Spoiler alert to anyone who hasn't seen the season four finale: we have a love triangle between a narcissistic woman-child, an abusive and cranky man-child, and a womanizing pervert with many STDs. And we're supposed to take this serious. Like this isn't a joke. This is the part we're supposed to be invested in. And for some insane reason, I am!

You should try Difficult People next. Or Casual. I feel like, especially with these Hulu and Netflix shows you watch at your own pace, character likeability doesn't really have to be a factor. Like it's not that you have to talk the whole family into sitting down and letting them into your living room, week after week. With Casual, I specifically feel that all the characters are awful people with no morals. One of the characters started dating a guy with cancer and was then disappointed when he went into remission. That's typical of the show. Yet I can't look away.

So yeah, I feel like sometimes, "interesting" replaces likeable for a reason to watch a show.

Like they did to Glee, especially when they cut off that Finn character after that actor, who played Finn, died of an overdose.

But back in this show, they should continue using both Annette and Dot characters to appear in this show more often.

Beverly is funny, but she's most boring out of the main cast. In order not to make her boring, that should continue hanging on both Annette and Dot characters in this show as much as possible. Secondly, they should bring back all the old characters back to show as reduced guests ASAP.
