Since it switched to Hulu. Where are you watching it that it's on basic cable? Canada? I don't know what the rules are there. However, it does seem like they've upped the swearing since the switch. That said, it always surprised me that they could say d*ck when it was on broadcast. To me, that seems like a stronger work than sh*t.
I don't know what the rules are, if any, for Hulu. On pay cable, there apparently are no rules, as Veep had an episode two weeks ago revolving around someone calling Selena the C word (which they used). However, it's also possible Mindy wants to keep it semi-clean for possible syndication reasons.

Yes, I watch it on CityTV, Vancouver, Canada. I figured as much it started after switching to Hulu.
I had to rewind on my DVR when I first heard Mindy say sh*t last ep when she visited Peter in Texas. Did she just say...?
D*ck doesn't seem harsh to me, definitely less harsh than C.
I remember being really young watching the first Beverly Hills 90210 way back in early 90s, where some guy called a girl a bitch. Being so young, me and my sister's jaws dropped LOL, and it wasn't like we were raised super strict either. ahhh times changing.
TMP still a good show though, glad it was picked up by Hulu
Wishing that heroes, they truly exist (since 2000)

Your story totally reminds of the first time I heard "bitch" on tv but I think I might be older than you. I was a kid the mid 80's and there was an ABC night time soap called Dynasty. One of the main characters called another character a "bitch" and it was quite the big deal to hear that word on tv, almost causing a national scandal. I still can't believe they can say "dick" and "a$$" on tv now but not "a$$hole" for some reason.

It's funny how a memory like that sticks out. The first time I heard bitch on tv as a little kid was during a Simpsons episode, an episode about Santa's Little Helper. I told my aunt they said the B word on tv and she actually thought I meant butt or something. Now sh!t is pretty commonplace on tv. Funny how things change.
