I wonder if that shot was his answer to horror critics of the left who often accuse the genre of being very misogynistic or promoting violence against women (you could say that about some movies, but in general it's false).

Possibly his way of reminding people that men get it just as bad if not worse than the ladies in these kinds of movies? Just guessing. It is a fairly gory movie, but that shot really went too far. LOL.

That shot kinda made me think we were in for a more brutal time than we really got with this. I was surprised the rest was somewhat tame compared to the other 2

That's one of the few proper 80s horror part. Would have loved to see it in cinemas for the reaction.
