I haven't seen the first one yet, mainly due to hearing terrible things. I just saw the sequel the other day on a flight and I really enjoyed it. I'm going to pick up a copy of the first movie next week.
I am aware that Sandler has got a lot of hate recently, but let me tell you, I saw That's My Boy and I enjoyed that movie too!

Grown Ups 2 is funny, but the first movie isn't.
And yes I seen That's My Boy and I agree it is a funny movie, really underrated.
I'm totally with you. Comedies like this generally are background noise for me; I watch them while multitasking. But I thought this was surprisingly funny and laughed out loud numerous times. In my book, the Tomatoes score of ~15% is way too harsh. It's not a great movie but 15%. Really! This movie has taught me that even with what seems like a consensus in the media, when it comes to comedies you just never know.
