Shows similar to Marco Polo

Really disappointed that Marco Polo was cancelled, I can only hope another entity may buy the rights to continue it.

Anyway, I was wondering, what are some other shows similar to Marco Polo that are well made (and hopefully last more than 2 seasons)?

I'm currently watching Vikings and just started The Borgias as I approach the end of Marco Polo season 2.

You might like 'The Tudors' about King Henry 8th, it's a few years old now, but if you haven't seen it may be worth a look, I enjoyed it before moving on to Borgias and Vikings.

Great! Thanks, I will check that one out! :)

Pillars of the earth and world without end are worth a look

I love this series and I am very disappointed they cancelled it! Benedict Wong is terrific in this show. The entire cast is great.

Equally sloppy when it comes to historical context? Try Xena.

Are you confusing history with historical fiction? Whether or not Polo himself even travelled to China there is a book in his name, which describes monsters and other creatures which make Xena's adventures look unimaginative!

reply

Polo's reports makes this show unimaginative as well. It stays about as true to those as Xena stays true to classic greek myths.

The first mistake was to include fantasy elements while not relying on a subjective narrator. At that point, it isn't even historical fiction anymore, but plain nonsense.

Try 'Rome' from HBO. Only went for 2 seasons but actually had an ending.
