Some bad dialogue with the Sheriff

When Norman's going on about changing the linen on the beds whether they've been slept in or not, then the sheriff notices the car tracks and Norman says someone was there and she goes "Wait a minute i thought you said you haven't had any customers?". Um no he never said he hadn't had any customers, all he said was he changes the linen whether the beds have been slept in or not.

In the movie the dialogue is something like Norman says "Um no we haven't had any customers for a few days now" then rambles on and eventually says "We had this couple just the other day that said they would've drove right one past us" and thats when Arbogast says "Now wait i thought you said you haven't had any customers for a few days?".

Just thought that bit of dialogue from the original movie was poorly written here.

Agreed.

Yes i noticed this, too.
He never said they had no guests, even though they had 3 rooms occupied with guests, there´d still be many unused sheets to change.

It is a bit awkward and clunky. Maybe there was a legal reason that barred them from lifting the dialogue verbatim? I kind of doubt it but can't think of anything else. Otherwise it was just clumsily done because they wanted to keep the general dialogue but it wouldn't have been exact to the story, as they wanted him to prolong the lie? I word things clunky too sometimes :-P
