Just watched the pilot!

I just watched it last night and I am already pulled in, hook, line and sinker. All I can say is wow, I have really been missing out, this is great! Being a newcomer to the series, can anyone that has been a fan for a while tell me(without spoiling anything)a little bit about what I can expect? This is what my understanding of what I have read so far. Correct me if I am wrong:

-The show is on A&E and it is immensely popular. It's one of the most popular shows on the network.
-The show was originally planned for 5 seasons. Shortly after the second season season started, it was renewed for a third. In fact, as of today,it has been renewed through season 5.
-From what I have seen, season 4 just concluded about a week ago and seems to have the highest ratings.

I appreciate any input. Thanks!

There is one season left (season 5) so you're right on that.

As for what you can expect, you can expect a lot of twists and turns. There are about one or two jaw dropping "bombs" that go off in every season. You can expect season 2 and 3 to be slower than 1 and 4 but they are still good and necessary to watch so you can feel the full development of Norman's character. Also, White Pine Bay is a crazy town.

That is very helpful, thanks!

I got sucked in after the first episode as well. Season 2 slows down a bit but is still great, stick with it is all I can say cause things get crazy! Especially in S4.

Did you ever see the movie Psycho?

reply

Yes, I have seen Psycho many times.

It is really good. The writing and acting are superb. I agree with the other poster who said there were lots of plot twists and turns.

Have fun!

I was gonna start a thread but I'm glad this one's already here. I am waiting on my Bates Motel box set (seasons 1-3) to arrive today. (yep I'm old school... DVDs all the way).

I have lurked on this board for ages and the one thing putting me off was that I didn't want to hate Norman because Anthony Perkins' Norman is a sympathetic character and I hated the thought of that being turned on its head. But I am so hooked on the discussions here, that I am willing to give this young whippersnapper Highmore a chance, although no one will ever replace Tony. I'm even looking forward to maybe even shipping Normero a teensy bit!

OMG it just arrived. THANK YOU AMAZON. I can't wait to get started. My heart's racing!

I think I must have one of those faces you just can't help believing - Norman, Psycho

SAME. Yas, DVDS ALL THE WAY. I only watch shows on Netflix if I really don't have it and I really wanna watch it or if they don't carry it on DVD, or if I'm bored and don't feel like pulling out my DVDs. DVDs just feel so much better and 'real'. DVDs ftw.

One of my best friends just told me that she's about to start binge watching the series! This is super exciting for me because up until now only my husband and brother watched very casually. My friend said she's looking for "a really good love story." I told her she'll have to wait til season three-ish but she'll definitely get it!!

Good choice to watch this serie. It has been best show for ages for me and Normero is the best love story in TV I have ever seen. I only found this serie last summer and binged all 3 seasons in short time. Then I waited I guess 7 months till season 4 and it was all worth waiting. Season 4 was extemely great one. I am totally hooked to this serie. Sad there are only 1 season left.

I don't know many people watching this serie. Only me and my sister.

It's a good show, just be ready to despise the most undesirable character in TV history.

Idk if it's the BIGGEST twist and turns I've ever seen.

Can you tell me where have you seen the biggest twist and turns? I'm looking for some really good tv/cinema and I'd like some recommendations. I'd agree that t&t of Bates Motel may not have been the biggest, but the were pretty big (like in s01e07, I didn't see that coming, and when it ended I was like 'wow, and it wasn't even the finale')
