You might as well just watch the second & third films
I'm not really a huge fan of "the purge concept" to begin with. But honestly, watching the first Purge is just a waste of time. This movie doesn't take you "inside" the purge, it just shows a family trying to hide from the purge inside their house. Even though Ethan Hawke is a great actor, he really didn't have much of a role. There was just a lot of wasted potential. I thought the movie was really boring and predictable. I wouldn't recommend the first film at all. At least the Purge Anarchy and the Purge Election Year had some action in them.
