Matilda...S.3 Conclusion *spoilers*

I really enjoyed this series and am really hoping for more to come having read about possible season 4 & 5.

My one main issue was with Matilda. Now obviously she wasn't abused at the hands of her caretaker parents, but being secluded as she was I thought she might've been a bit more socially stunted than she presented after release, and given the class status of her "parents" her manners seemed a bit too refined to me. I could be wrong, just kind of my thinking on this character.

Oh yes, and the final episode of season 3- Was Long Susan due to be hung? She was wearing the same white gown that they seem to dress all who were sentenced to death. That is my assumption.

Finally, if the series does go on I shall miss Fred Best greatly. That actor is also excellent in The Last Kingdom as well.

I just thought she was odd, which makes sense.

Yeah, I think she was. Her crimes are pretty damned hefty. I imagine they'll wait until the baby's been born, then she'll be hanged.

Fred Best was my favourite character this series. I was very sad when he was killed, though I was glad that he died so nobly. He is a good actor and I too am enjoying his work in The Last Kingdom. He seems to have quite the talent for making difficult characters quite likable. I'm going to keep an eye out on him to see what else he's in.

Thanks, I appreciate your reply. That's too bad about Long Susan, I mean she did do some pretty despicable things, but I really liked her character, although more so when she was still with Jackson.

Yeah Matilda was an odd duck to be sure. Raving on and on about her "pupa" and then becoming pretty normal if not a refined young woman. Perhaps people were more resilient back then for today I'd imagine someone in that situation would require years of therapy and then end up writing some kind of biography lol.

Yeah I thought the season finale of Last Kingdom was pretty good. If you've not seen it yet I won't spoil it for you, but there was one character I was pretty glad to see go. I haven't heard any talk yet, but I am hoping they bring it back for another season or so.

Susan might have made some deal regarding her part in catching Swift. Let's hope it isn't so. 

What I also find strange about Mathilda is her physical state, and in particular her roof-climbing skills. For a girl confined in an underground cell for years she seems rather agile. She doesn't show any signs of vitamin D deficiency and/or malnourishment either. A rather sturdy lass, no dobut.

As for Dawson, the scene where Best explains to Reid why he is pursuing those responsible for the train crash is incredible. Plus Dawson is dead funny when he is cocky/bitchy.

Even while still in Season 3, I found both her physical and her mental resilience to be borderline unbelievable. With the kind of delusional thinking she had, it should have taken much longer...many more times of exposure to the Evil King...before she could accept Reid as her daddy again.

And Susan/Caitlin may be in jail for attempted murder, no matter what deal she made with Reid.

On the daddy/evil king thing, she was pretty much afraid of them all until she reached her home. There alone she had time to see and remember many things she had forgotten. All her memories of her childhood came flooding in. By the time Reid arrived she was calmly sitting in her room looking at her stuff and was able to clearly answer Reid when he asked if she knew who he was.
