McKinnon Work
Does anyone else think there's a direct art between Ray McKinnon's character on Deadwood, and the themes of Rectify?

shareI do, in that the preacher was a caring, gentle, curious and intelligent man, and a profoundly lonely one, who introduced civility and fellow feeling to a cruel and debased environment. His sensitive, thoughtful nature, his earnest sincerity, and just plain eccentricity made him an outcast. He was often mocked, treated with indifference or even contempt.
He also began to lose his faith when he tended those dying of the plague - a faith tested already by his experience in the civil war. Later, his physical affliction tormented him so that he couldn't tell what was real anymore. It terrified him. And he had a couple of friends who stood by him. What happened to the preacher was grossly unjust, which the doc gave voice to.
I also see some elements carrying over naturally from McKinnon's Oscar winning short film "The Accountant." But maybe not so much character-related ones.

Beautifully said, Whatlarks. TY.
sharei have been meaning to watch the accountant, sad about his wife, dying so young
did ray write at all on deadwood?he certainly brought over some actors for very important scenes,
Trey willis is almost innocent in deadwood,in a bumbling idiot kind of way,
I didn't even recognize leon rippy when i watched deadwood compared to rectify(only watched deadwood this summer)
I wonder if his time on sons of anarchy had any influence on his creation of sensator foulkes, or even sondra, as he p;ayed a district attorney bent on bringing jax teller down
to bad his character won't be comming back for the 2 movie deadwood revival they was greenlit earlier this year, silver liniings of a *beep* year
Yes, too bad. But I will watch anything related to that series nonetheless. Furious when it was cancelled. As with Rome. As with Caprica (which did a Six Feet Under kind of ending, wrapping up what happened to all the major characters).
Revolution; The Returned; Family (which was kinda stupid) - all wrapped without closure. Why can't the TV gods NOT cut things off without some kind of look into the future? (But I thought The Sopranos finale was brilliant.)
i still have the final season of both six feet under, and the second half of sopranos to watch, and six feet under i watched at the age of 15 with my mom, lol my dad always came up during the david and keith scenes, and calls it our gay program, although he liked oz more then my mum, which i watched with them at a later age soo idkk
and sopranos, i watched it when it aired on canadian tv uncensored just with adverts, on our equivalent of pbs, they started game of thrones too, this was before we had hbo and i couldnt keeo track, but finished most of it later,
but still haven't seen the ending,
I was always confused about whether the woman in the room with Claire was a nurse, or one of her now-middle-aged nieces.
I suspect Claire lived to 106 because of her vegan diet.
Loved how Brenda's brother talked her to death!
didnt brenda brother kill himself in like season 3, i am going to have to rewatch from the begining
