This show was amazing. ..

I loved this show more than life! Then the last season.... Chloe and Daniel bored me to death. I had to push myself to finish the damn series. To me, Tawney and Daniel were the beauty of the show. I knew it couldn't work, but they could have done something besides bring a troubled woman who had zero chemistry with Daniel. I just missed the Tawney scenes. "It was you who saved me, not some God." That's what I missed. Ehhh, half decent show.

Sounds like there was a lot at stake for you personally.

and there wasn't for you larks? or were you just commenting on the overall aggression of his post towards the ending of the show?

I know there was a lot of stake in this show personally for me , emotionally at least,
maybe watching season 3 too close to season 4 can lead to a quite jarring effect, without the over a year most of us had to digest the previous season, and get out grief ready

Sad when a million girls die when one direction breaks up, and maybe a few hundred cry for rectify, when anyone with a brain knows rectify is a once in a lifetime thing, and bands like one direction are not only an affront to music, humanity, and and things that matter, but there will be 10039384944884745758984 new cookie cutter bands to come out in the future

My comment was actually neutral. The OP opened by saying they loved the show more than life itself. That is indeed an expression of extraordinary personal stakes. My intention was to prompt them to say more about that state of affairs.

Indeed, I invested in the show emotionally, and it was most gratifying. But in my case that doesn't translate to mean drastic personal stakes. For example, while I didn't think S4 was as quite as good, since I hadn't depended on the show for fulfillment to maximum degree the letdown wasn't a devastating experience. I should add that S4 had many excellent qualities, so I try to keep that perspective in mind when thinking about the decline.

Speaking of perspective, we all bring personal needs to dramas, and sometimes those needs are extraordinary. I understand that; I've been there. Because I've been there, I think the responsibility for fulfillment or devastation does not rest entirely with the drama. It's the same in any relationship, really.

This is very dismissive of you, Whatlarks.

Surprise, surprise.

Sour grapes. Dismissing much of the show's context, then blaming the writer, is your thang after all. Heck, yesterday you dismissed an analysis without actually bothering to learn what was in it, even with a link provided.

whatlarks has said for awhile that he thought Chloe was a mistepp by the writers

but i don't completely disagree, although i don't think tawney and daniel were ever meant to be,i thought that was the way it headed after season 2 back 2 years ago , but nah, and daniel not ending up with tawney actually feels more organic

Well I will say that your opinion is valid, and not just because I share it. Man how I wanted Rectify to go down as the one scripted show that stayed awesome all the way to the end. At last the Gelato Lady snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. Still I try to keep in mind how awesome the show was overall.

I ended up liking Daniel and Chloe together. Think it was a good idea to show Daniel somewhere else in addition to new Canaan house and at work. Thinking who Daniel might b able to have a relationship with at this point in his life and a disaffected artist with a messy personal life seems like a possibility.i am not sure who else would have given him a chance.
