OT: The Young pope/American Audiences

The Young Pope, despite what you might have seen advertised on HBO is not an HBO series, it is a skyatlantic series in association with canal+ and HBO, so they did put money into it, but it wasn't made for the HBO demographic,

and it is also not a limited series, before it even aired in america it was revnewed for a second season, and production had begun,

it has already aired in italy, and the UK and it is great, and has had great reviews over europe,

now it just debuted this past sunday in america
and i am seeing alot of complaints on the forum that it is "boring"
and "when will the action kick in", but it really isn't about this,
and you can't gleam that from the trailer, because it is a bit deceving

there are elements of surrealism, and the show is more like a European art house film at some points

it is suspenseful, just not in an action like way, in more of a dialogue way,
rectify fans might enjoy it , there were several scenes that reminded me of rectify's beautiful bliss, and the titular character, is a damaged interesting human being, despite being the pope,

so id say give it a try, and if you don't like it/don't have the patience for it, you can always give me crap for making such a crappy recommendation, and i will cry in my closet in my cut-off denim shorts,

Well, I certainly won't give you crap about it, however, the thought of you crying in your closet in cut off shorts makes me laugh.

The Young Pope was on HBO last night, but I haven't watched an episode yet. I can't speak for others, but as for myself, I don't need slam bam action to enjoy a series. Rectify is "slow moving" and as fans already know, it's a great series. I've been curious about The Young Pope, so now I'll have to put it on my list. Thank you for your recommendation.
