I just see a show like this working better on a smaller network. And TBS is both constantly looking for original sitcoms and (a little) more lax in regards to viewership.
The ratings for this show are terrible, yes. But Friday nights - wedged between two shows that share no demographic with it - do the show no favors.
I could see this doing very well on TBS or something. On ABC, though, its doomed.

how does that work? Can another network just pickup a show?
It happens. Rarely, but it does happen.
Usually whenever a show is doing badly or the network lets it be known they want to cancel it, producers/the creator can shop it around. Generally this involves two networks cooperating a little but many networks fall under the umbrella of the same company (for instance, Disney owns both ABC and Disney Channel).
I know TBS picked up that awful show Cougar Town a few months back and Scrubs was on NBC for like 7 seasons before it was sold to ABC for its final two seasons.
ABC's embarrassing dearth of attention and publicity during the first season, and relegation of The Neighbors to Friday nights for the second, shows that they didn't know what to do with it (and are happy to keep it that way).
Until they got hooked on realitoid shows (professional wrestling, horror makeup competitions and ghost shows) I thought that "SyFy" would have been a good place for The Neighbors or a show like it.
Shows picked up by tbs after they have been canceled go there to die. Cougar town is a great example it was a funny show but now it is beyond terrible
shareI think it should get picked up on a different network. I don't know what TV Station it should get picked up on but it shouldn't be on ABC. ABC is killing this show. It is hardly getting any advertisement. I think a great TV Network would be some TV Network that is willing to support the show more than ABC does.
